The Inuvialuit Land Administration (ILA), a division of the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC), invites applications for the position of Environmental Management Coordinator.
Based in Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, CANADA, and under the direction of the Director of Inuvialuit Lands, the Environmental Management Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to ensure that the environmental value of Inuvialuit private lands is maintained and enhanced. The position will achieve this goal by evaluating proposed projects from an environmental perspective, by drafting terms and conditions that govern how projects may proceed, by inspecting land use activities on private lands, and by leading environmental cleanups and initiatives on private lands and in the wider Inuvialuit Settlement Region.
The position will represent Inuvialuit Land Administration (ILA) on various groups and committees in the Inuvialuit Land Settlement (ILS) and territorially.
The position requires the ability to collect and incorporate input from diverse stakeholder groups; ability to evaluate and provide comment on technical applications; and experience tracking and monitoring environmental programs. Knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations, especially those specific to the Inuvialuit Settlement Region and NWT is considered an asset as well as experience with database programs (i.e., Microsoft Access).
The ideal candidate will have a degree in environmental science and one year of related experience in environmental management; and experience working in a cross-cultural or northern setting.
