The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) is currently searching for a hard-working, motivated individual to fill the position of Conservation Education Liaison. The OFAH/Mario Cortellucci Hunting and Fishing Heritage Centre is a state-of-the-art education centre where the conservation success stories of anglers and hunters are proudly told.
Key Responsibilities:
– Develop, promote, and deliver original, creative, and hands-on curriculum linked to educational programs for all grades. The curriculum will focus on fish and wildlife conservation and the role of anglers and hunters in conservation in the past, present, and future.
– Working with the Coordinator, convert and create curriculum materials for virtual learning and teaching (e.g. Ontario Envirothon, Specialist High Skills Major).
– Review existing fishing and hunting curriculum kits and lesson plans and identify opportunities for updating these resources (e.g. Conservation Crates, field trips).
– Coordinate mailings to disseminate program information and materials on fishing and hunting to school boards and educational institutions.
– Connect with school boards and similar agencies to engage teacher, informal educators, administrators, and school board officials in the Heritage Centre and increase presence of fishing and hunting programming in their classrooms/schools.
– Responsible for Heritage Centre social media channels including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
– Provide personalized tours and interpretive presentations for in-person and virtual attendees during weekday, evening, and weekend Heritage Centre operating hours.
– Assist with the development, delivery and promotion of regular programs associated with the Heritage Centre including Day Camps, PA Day programs, TackleShare Program, etc.
– Responsible for the development, delivery, and promotion of special events held at the Heritage Centre including National Hunting, Fishing, and Trapping Heritage Day and other special events and workshops/webinars.
– Assist with the program delivery, and equipment maintenance pertaining to the Shimano Fish Pond, Excalibur Archery Range and Stoeger Air Gun Range.
– Responsible for feeding the fish daily, and the snakes bi-weekly during Heritage Centre operating hours.
Education and Qualifications:
– Bachelor of Education is required;
– College or university education in the environmental field (conservation education, fish, wildlife, geography), or equivalent work-related experience in the relevant fields; and
– Experience with education and curriculum development and delivery.

– Leadership.
Other Requirements:
– Valid driver’s licence (class G);
– Valid fishing licence;
– Valid outdoors card with accredited hunter;
– Valid firearms licence;
– Valid pleasure craft operators card;
– Valid standard first aid with level C CPR certification (as a minimum);
– Valid criminal record check; and
– Valid OFAH membership.
