Senior Wildlife Biologist
$72,724.97 – $83,014.85 annually plus 3.3% Temporary Market Adjustment
The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development is responsible for land and resource management in B.C.
As Senior Wildlife Biologist, you will support implementation of government’s management goals, objectives and principles (Together for Wildlife Strategy) by leading programs and projects that support the conservation, protection and sustainable use of wildlife. You will support the governments commitments in promoting working relationships with internal and external partners, stakeholders, First Nations, and government agencies to achieve wildlife program or project objectives. Supporting the regional Section Head, you will lead wildlife staff, wildlife management planning and delivery, wildlife act authorizations, statutory decision support, operational research, large game inventories, First Nation engagement and collaboration, public stakeholder engagement, as well representation on regional and provincial committees and advisory tables.
Qualifications for this role include:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or related field; AND a minimum six years of related wildlife experience, including field-based biological sampling, analysis and reporting, and providing advice within a regulatory regime; OR
- A Master’s degree in biological sciences or related field; AND five years of related wildlife experience, including field-based biological sampling, analysis and reporting, and providing advice within a regulatory regime; OR
- A PhD in biological sciences or related field; AND four years of related wildlife experience, including field-based biological sampling, analysis and reporting, and providing advice within a regulatory regime
- Registered (or immediately eligible) as a Registered Professional Biologist (RP Bio) in B.C. with the College of Applied Biology within six months of employment.
- Experience assessing and monitoring natural resources.

If you are not yet registered with the CAB, please explain how you are immediately eligible (i.e., currently a Registered Professional Biologist (RPBio) member in good standing in another Canadian jurisdiction and can immediately transfer to the CAB).
