Coordinator, Integrated Pest Management
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Parks/Forestry this role is responsible for developing and overseeing all aspects of a Town of Caledon Integrated Pest Management program for the control of invasive species on Town property and Town rights-of-way throughout the Town of Caledon. As the Coordinator, Integrated Pest Management, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Organize and supervise activities of the Parks division with respect to Integrated Pest Management.
- Oversee contractors with respect to invasive species control
- Plans/Coordinates Invasive species managements plans
- Review and develop standard operating procedures to ensure the Town is operating in accordance with industry best practices
- Work cooperatively and share resources with fellow Operations team members
- Supervise in-house and contracted staff assigned to perform work and activities.
COVID-19: In consideration of the current pandemic and Public Health orders, the Town of Caledon is providing limited in-person services as Town Hall is open to the public by appointment only. The successful candidate for Coordinator, Integrated Pest Management will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an enthusiastic professional with a post-secondary diploma in Landscape Technician, Forestry or a closely related field. Our ideal candidate is a certified Weed Inspector, who has a minimum 3 years related experience in Integrated Pest Management programs and invasive species control, a certification in Integrated Pest Management, and an Ontario Pesticide license for Commercial Land Extermination.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills involving regular development of new and improved methods. We are seeking an individual with superior interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment, a demonstrated ability to make decisions involving multiple routine tasks, affecting department level, and excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to handle significant contacts with long term impacts.
This position offers a salary range of $71,552.88 – $84,616.97 plus a competitive benefit package.
Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check, a valid driver’s license with no more than 3 demerit points, daily access to a vehicle, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
