NATURAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTOR

DUTIES
UCN requires a Natural Resources Management Technology (NRMT) Instructor to teach in The Pas, Manitoba. Reporting to the Dean of
Skilled Trades, Apprenticeship, and Technology, instructors are responsible for the development and delivery of culturally relevant
curriculum and for evaluation of student performance relating to their teaching assignments. Instruction takes place on campus as well as
off campus. The NRMT program delivers much of its teaching and learning on the land. Instructors also assist with assigned activities
including University College promotion, student recruitment, committee assignment, and various program administrative functions.
Instructors will also have demonstrated technical skills to ensure the effective use of current information technology in the conduct of their
work. The incumbent must ensure that the functional areas under their control comply with the Workplace Safety and Health Act and all
applicable UCN policies and procedures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor degree in a natural resources management discipline with working knowledge of 3-4 the following fields of study: Water Resources, Zoology, ESRI Geographic Information System products, Environmental Assessment, Natural Resource Law, and Field Navigation
· Natural resources related diploma with extensive experience may be considered (e.g. natural resources law enforcement, land management, ecology, wildlife/fisheries management, forestry etc.)
· 5 years significant field and practical experience within natural resources related management fields
· Experience with tools and technologies employed by technicians in the natural resources related fields
· Experience with tools and technologies employed by technicians in the natural resources related fields
· Effective communication skills
· Strong teamwork skills
· Effective interpersonal skills
· Excellent problem-solving skills
· Strong organizational and time management skills
· Excellent computer skills with the MS Office Suite software tools
· Demonstrated ability to work with a range of adult learners with issues specific to Indigenous learners and mature students in
northern communities

· Experience and/or knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures
· Ability to speak an Indigenous language

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
· Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada
· Must be able to travel and work in field sites and remote camps
· Valid Class 5 Driver’s license or equivalent
· Must be physically capable of performing the required duties related to leading students in field activities
· Current Standard/Intermediate/Wilderness First Aid certification or willing to obtain
· Completion of Teaching for Learning in Applied Education (TFL) certification within 3 years of employment
