We’re in it together (yes, really)
At the peak of the pandemic there was a catch phrase that was loud and clear: We’re In This Together.
We’ve thought a lot about that phrase lately. Times are still challenging. The cost of everything seems to be going up, up, up. Running a business or organization is more costly than just a year or two ago.
We’ll be honest: Costs have gone up significantly for us too. Heat. Keeping the lights on. Internet costs. Equipment upgrades. Services that we rely on to keep our business up and running every day. So when January 1, 2023 arrived, we considered raising posting rates by a small amount to help us keep up with the sudden inflationary costs that are hitting everyone’s pocketbook. Then we had a second thought: What if we did the exact opposite? What if we held the line on all rates in 2023? Can we absorb the inflationary costs on our own?
Then we turned to remembering that catch phrase: We’re In This Together.
During the pandemic, so many conservation organizations and job seekers continued to support WorkCabin.ca. Yes, it was postings. But it was also tweets, shares, conversation, etc.
We know the challenges that organizations are having today because of the economy and inflation. Whether it’s directly in the field or on the phone, we have these conversations every day with organizations. So now it’s our turn. WorkCabin hasn’t raised rates in four years. And we won’t be raising rates in 2023 either. We may have to introduce a very small increase in 2024 but we’ll cross that stream after we review the impact of inflationary costs this year.
In the meantime, saying thank you doesn’t seem enough. But we are so grateful. For your support. For being with us for the past 16 years. And for being with us on the road ahead to 20 years of WorkCabin.ca being Canada’s Conservation Jobs Board.
