Company Overview
The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is a charitable, non-profit organization and the country’s leading land conservation organization, having helped protect more than 2.8 million acres of natural habitat, since 1962. NCC has been ranked as Canada’s top environmental charity for four years in a row by MoneySense Magazine, with a grade of A+.
Our land acquisition is based on sound science planning, starting with Ecoregional Assessments (conservation blueprints), Natural Area Conservation Plans and Focal Area Plans. As NCC protects a property, money is always put aside in a stewardship endowment fund, to ensure the perpetual care of the land, which is directed by Property Management Plans.
In addition to conducting our own research on our properties, they are also used by others (academics) for research initiatives. Almost all NCC properties provide public access and allow the continuation of traditional uses. NCC works with willing landowners, to acquire properties through outright donation, bargain sale, or purchase at or below appraised value. NCC recognizes that flora and fauna know no borders and we work on cross-border (provincial and international with the US) land conservation projects and participate in international initiatives such as the North American Wetlands Conservation Program.
If you have a keen interest in nature and conservation and are interested in joining our team, please forward your resumé and cover letter, indicating “Communications Intern – Ontario Region” in the subject line, by May 24, 2016, to the Nature Conservancy of Canada, via e-mail: careers@natureconservancy.ca.
We thank everyone who applies for their interest in the Nature Conservancy of Canada, however only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
